My life has been crazy these past few weeks. This weekend (thursday, friday, saturday) I made the trip to durham every night for TROIKA music fest. It was awesome and WSOE was sponsoring. A lot of people took Choose Local Music stickers, which was awesome.

I was pretty much beat after thursday night because I was rocking out to Red Collar hard core into the early morning. It was a fantastic show and I think I almost died a few times.

The rest of the festival was awesome, especially cause the music scene here feels so much like family.

Hopefully Jay (red collar), DJ Stevo (88.1 WKNC), Kyle Miller (Troika organizer & churchkey records owner) and I will be able to meet next weekend to help get Choose Local Music going a bit more. I have some pretty cool goals for it and Jay and I know a radio promoter, Patric (the guy that almost got me a steven wilson interview and who got me the photo pass for the PT show in Baltimore) in Jersey who knows people who owe him favors. We're going to try to make this a national movement to go local. I'm pumped.

Classes are somewhat enjoyable, except for financial accounting where I want to stab a pencil through my eye.

I think that's all I can think of for what I'm up to.

Word.

Music has shown me the meaning of life,

Living, breathing, thinking and feeling.

Frank Zappa taught me about the world,

the meaning of religion, politics, how people work

and how to laugh at all of life's flaws.

Jeff Tweedy taught me about the reality of life,

how the everydayman gets through the week, and

how to find poetry and beauty in everything.

Steven Wilson showed me irony, organization,

and how to feel everything and nothing at the same time.

Mark Lanegan revealed beauty in sadness and anger.

Grunge showed me that it was okay to be uncomfortable

with how society is run.

Punk re-enforced the unease, inspiring me to act.

Bob Dylan inspired me to start a revolution.

Tom Waits taught me about beauty and the beast.

Josh Ritter taught me about words and music.

Mainstream rap revealed an ignored racism, sending us backwards,

Helping me to appreciate TRUE hip-hop promoting equality.

Classical trained me in the art of thought and meditation,

While Jazz helped me to think on my feet and become spontaneous.

Being in a band taught me how to have fun,

But LOCAL Music showed me what it's like to be a part of something,

Local music is family away from home.

Yeah so the biggest news is probably that we got a puppy.

Meet Puck:

http://i296.photobucket.com/albums/mm164/keeprockalive88/Puck/DSC_0357.jpg

He's a silly Doberman/Shepherd/Coonhound mix. 3 months old, mischief and full of spunk.

I've been at Elon for a while, even though classes don't start until SEPTEMBER 2nd!! WTF?!?!?

The radio station is sounding a lot better now that I changed up the clock and added a crap ton of local music, yay. My next task is reworking the Jazz clock because the jazz that's been playing hasn't been updated since 2005 (x_X).

I don't really know if I have anything else to say... Other than Wilco was awesome. I don't think I'll be going to many shows this semester (Opeth included :( ).

Also, I'm really looking forward to seeing Tropic Thunder, Hamlet 2 and Burn After Reading. They look hilarious. I still can't get over how awesome Hellboy 2 & The Dark Knight were... Mummy 3 was slightly disappointing, but what did I expect? It was campy and funny and lame, but isn't that the point? I feel like if Rachel Weis was in it, it would've been much better. The special effects were pimptastic though.

Anyways, I'm done.

Peace.

Posting from the beach. Yeah. Last night was the last night of my career at Georgina's. It's done, over. They don't really need me anymore and I don't want to waste my time driving back from Elon to work when I don't feel needed. The next time I would have worked would have been August 15th, and that would have been my last day. I figured, screw it, I'll just stay in Elon and hang out w/ Brittany.

I've been working at WSOE a lot, changing up the automation format. It sounds much better now, because I'm awesome (thats why).

And that's really all I have to post about.

That and The Dark Knight was amazing and I've been obsessed w/ 3 TV shows: Get Smart (original of course!), The Mighty Boosh (god English humor is the best) and the Adventures of Brisco County Jr (IMO the best thing Bruce Campbell EVER did.

Peace.

    <lj:music>Trade Off (Demo) - Spotlight Effect</lj:music>

Haha. I woke up at 4:30 this morning to Spiff's insistent IMing. He had been mixing Trade Off for about 6 hours straight and needed some unbiased feedback. The begining needs work, but it's almost done. He also has I'd Rather and Homeless finished!! YAY! TCETM and Amazing are on their way to being done. So... hopefully the new album, Paper Fists and Paper Tigers, will be out by the end of January, and hopefully most of the songs will have been finished by the end of break. Matt has some ideas that we want to work with when we get back, and we want to write a song incorperating Max's fingerstyling techniques on the acoustic guitar. So... we're getting there!! YAY!

This album is going to be amazing.
